I just purchased a 2006 Sandance Maxxus and I was told to run 60amp breaker, GFCI, disconnect. Now instead of running alot of wire from my main panel, I was thinking about using the wire that comes in to my AC disconnect box (6 gauge) and my AC is on a 50 amp breaker. I would like to pull the 50 amp breaker from the panel and put a 60 amp in, and then tap into the AC disconnect box and wire in this 60 AMP GFCI/DISCONNECT which the link is below. We do not use our AC unit at all. Now the MAXXUS requires a 3 wire not a four wire, if I run the 60 AMP GFCI/DISCONNECT ( is this a 4 wire or 3wire) if it is 4 wire can I use it for 3 wire, and what do you think about this box. I can not find anything in a 60 amp in my area.

when it comes to electrical circuit requirements you should consult your electrician.
the maxxus (all Sundance and many other spas) can be loadshed with jumper settings, so if you can't achieve maximum function without upgrading the cable, you can possibly load shed to allow the use of your current cable if necessary. This does of course limit simultaneous full spa function, but if you don't want to pay for a possible electrical circuit upgrade then loadshedding is an alternative.
Loadshedding - the limitation of spa function to prevent circuit overloading - ie will not allow heater, or pumps, etc to operate simultaneously.
on a Sundance spa their are approx 4 loadshedding points - not sure of the current rating for USA and maxxus, but export sundance 50Hz spas are at 16A, 20A, 25A and 32A for non maxxus. At full load in Australia a maxxus draws 45A.
For other brands using gecko/spa builders/hydroquip, or balboa (and maybe others) the load shedding is usually limited to the heater function - ie High Current setting = heater on with on with other functions, Low Current = heater off unless pump 1 is on low speed (or similar restriction)

Absolutely Not. You cannot use your line for the A/C Disconnect!

This is not only illegal, but it is unsafe.

Unless of course you completely disconnect your A/C unit, and render it completely inoperable.

It is highly recommended that you consult an licensed electrician to do a correct installation.

It is ALWAYS best to run a new, dedicated run to the spa. I say this because there is always the chance that an existing circuit (the AC for example) won't meet the requirements "somewhere" and can cause problems. Not to mention that disconnecting and abandoning your AC unit will reduce your home's resale value should you sell. If you are insistant in eliminating the AC unit, let me know if it is a 3 ton or higher, as I will gladly take that off your hands! FYI for residential applications, AC compressor wiring is rarely as large as 6ga...
