| Spa Builders LX-15, Model 3-70-1044 |
Hi and thanks for reading this. I just got a second hand tub (Crystal Waters Apex 2000). It has the mentioned spa pack in it. The LX-15 panel says 50A/220v. The tub itself says 30A/220v. The LX-15 has a fuse in it that says SC-30. All the literature on LX-15's says that the system is a 50A/30A dual-mode, (select from topside). Whew!
I called the mfr., and the fellow I spoke to could only say that perhaps it was a mistake on the panel on the tub and it should have read '50A'. He didn't know anything about 'dual mode'.
Here's my guess - this tub can be run at 50A or at 30A, the difference being that at 30A, heater and two speed AquaFlo X2 pump won't operate at the same time.
My thought is to hook it up with a 40A breaker at the sub-panel, 40A Cutler Hammer GFCI, 4 wire to the GFCI and three to the tub, since that is how it was wired when disconnected. Then, it will all be #8AWG, including the additional fourth wire from the GFCI to the panel.
Make sense? Anyone familiar with the dual mode deal?
Tks again |
