Adding circulation pump to single pump spa?

I have an older spa that I would like to upgrade to the digital spa pak. I would also like to add a circulation pump. Can this be done? Is there a plumbing schematic that would show where to hook up?

Great site, thanks for the support.

Single pump spa will work just fine and dandy using a 2 speed main pump. Any particular reason you want to add the expense and installation hassle of a circ pump system?

I was under the impression that a circulation pump system is more efficient and less costly to run. Is this assumption wrong?

Oh man don't open up that can'o worms. There are a lot of variables that go into that equation, but the most profound impact on the spa's cost of operation (sitting still with no use) is the quality of insulation. Good cover is the most important, (a better place to put $300), followed by insulation of the spa shell and components.

However, once those two are up to snuff, I would leave the spa as is.

Great, Thank you for the information. I will proceed with just updating to Digital and improving the insulation.

before you go any further with jets, you need to be sure your controller will work with that spa.

Post a link to which controller you purchased, or provide a brand name along with heater wattage.

Ok that's an ACC system... Is the heater 5500 or 4kw? Sometimes you can get away with a 'Standard' 5500 watt element on a circ pump, as many spas in previous years have, namely Leisure Bay prior to them switching to Balboa Instruments controllers. This is pretty much what you need to do: http://spaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=832

Any help with the jet question....

thanks....
