| Need advice on rebuild (now with pictures) |
I am so excited because my new spa pack is scheduled to arrive Friday. I tried to get help earlier on this forum on pump configuration but did not get any responses. I thought I would try but this time with pictures.
Here's the story: I have a two-speed pump, a single-speed pump, blower, and a new spa pack with a 5.5 kw horizontal heater.
My old spa pack had a vertical heater with 3/4" hoses. The top hose from the vertical heater was attached to a small port above the 1 1/2" union on the wet end of the single speed pump. The 3/4" hose from the bottom of the vertical heater went to the jets. The wet end of the two-speed pump goes to the one suction port on spa body. The top discharge on the two-speed pump goes to the "in" port on the filter body.
My dilema is what to do with the 3/4" hose and if I even need it. Also, the unions on the new heater are much larger than the 3/4" hoses that were on the old heater.
I have included a picture of both pumps, a close up of the single-speed pump, and a picture of the spa pack that I will hopefully be hooking up Friday night.
Thanks for any help you can provide. |

I'd knock the 2" heater fittings down to 3/4" with flush bushings and plumb it in that way.
The markings you have on your photos are not correct either. All of the leisure bay spas with that style of waterway center discharge pump should have the 3/4 port going directly to the bottom of the flow-thru heater. The top goes out to the spa output jet.
But you can plumb it anyway you want as long as the new heater gets enough water flow. |

Sorry about my mistake
I apologize for the mistake in my pictures. The two labels that read "vertical filter" should actually read "vertical heater". Thanks. |
