| New used spa cabinet replacement |
Well after gutting what was a non salvageable spa I hunted down a 7 Year old Jacuzzi tub with no mechanical problems, or leaks. The cabinet is sooo gone. The owners sold it because they were moving and it was falling apart. We have it home and the plan is to build 2x4 treated framing around the tub and add a little more support under the seats and foot well ( cheap insurance ). We are going to use LP smart side (4x siding sheets to enclose the cabinet with ample hinges for access. We have cedar to trim it out. Any suggestions would be great. We are really more concerned that the cabinet be sturdy and have easy access for service than having it look pretty. Oh the only upgrade we are planning is one 2x12 running the length of one side for a bar.

The framing went well and everthing else broke!
Well first one pump locked up we disconected it and used the tub on low. The second pump started leaking at the seal. Then we started having problems with the controller. I got my Smartouch 1000 controller the other day(Sweeeeeeeeeeet) I was carefull when I pulled out the old equipment so I could rember where the sensors were located. I opened the box up and total sweetness they are all in the heater talk about plug and play. Can't wait to get the pump and plumbing stuff. I received new bulkhead fitttings to replace the flimsy ones that Jacuzzi used. When it was working peices of leaves would pass through suction covers then would clog the jets quit a PITA. When I get done it will be a Jencuzzi. Got my boots on one hour till I have to pick up the kids. If all goes well I should be in hot water next weekend!

Almost done!
Well sorry it took so long to post back I Love the new controller Smartouch 1000 I really haven't had to do anthing but set the temp. The customer service was great form ACC. They answed several questions Every time I called they I spoke to a human! I also replaced the suction fittings and covers I purchased from Flex PVC when I brought it to their attention that I was missing some inserts they overnighted them. Now nothing gets sucked in to clog the jets and these fittings are heavy duty no problems with the kids knocking them lose. We installed Waterway 3hp 2speed pump and a Delzone ozonator. The ozonater arrived DOA. I called Del and the shipped one out the same day. Rebuilding this tub was a lot of work but in the end i'm very happy and when you find good products and services(or bad) I like to let others know Now if I can Just find a new cover! Every one claims to be the best I'm soooooooo confused.

Forget the marketing (what they CLAIM) and just compare features and specifications. If something isn't specified, assume it's being hidden for a reason " title="Smile" /> |
