I picked up a "free" spa from a homeowner who upgraded. I've asked abou the controller unit in the electrical section so this concerns the spa tub/shell.

It was formerly set into a deck and there is no framework around it. I am going to be doing a similar setup and building a spa deck off my main deck to hold the tub.

It is a 7-person 7'6" square tub with recliner and is 3 feet deep so I guess that makes it a deep tub, yes?

I can find no name anywhere on it but I'm guessing it is roughly 15 yrs old. There are a number of bubbles in the acrylic surface in the footwell area and a few of them have small cracks so I plan to grind out the cracked bubbles and fill them in with an epoxy.

Coments?!? Suggestions?!?

Sounds like you are on the right track, but if the bubbles aren't cracking, don't grind em out just yet. It's always prettier if you don't use epoxy if you don't have to. Epoxy turns brown in the heat of the water.

I would add a note that if you can build a box to enclose the shell under the deck, do so, and insulate it with good extruded poly insulation. That shell doesn't have jack for insulating properties as it sits. Don't forget under it too.
