Breaker tripped and doesn't reset

Hi - We have a two year old ProForm Tempest (Costco special <img src=" title="Laughing" /> ). We went out to check temp this morning and the tub was off. Checked the outside breaker and it was tripped and won't reset. <img src=" title="Shocked" /> The breaker in the main house panel was not tripped. We had a pretty wicked storm roll through Thursday night, but nothing else in the house was affected and no power outage or brownout. It would seem a power strike or surge would affect the main panel before the external one, but I'm no pro electrician. Plan is to replace the exterior GFI 50a breaker tomorrow. Any other suggestions?? Any thought about the tub itself? Think it took a hit, or did the breaker do it's job?? TIA -PGT

lightening strikes can burn the pc board up. I would start by checking the pc board and seeing if there are any visable burns. If not test all the fuses for continuity. also you can unplug the pump then try the breaker if it does not work plug the pump back in and do the next pump, ozone, heater. that is a simple way to check what the prob might be. also u can check to see if your getting power to the gfci from the house. hope this helps.

it does, thanks. I replaced the 50a outdoor breaker...same symptoms. I did check the voltage with my digital multimeter and it looks like I'm getting voltage from the main panel.

The tub is still under warranty (as long as it didn't take a hit that is). I'm going to call tomorrow for service to see where that gets me.

update - I pulled the panels off to check each subsystem and there's a persistent leak, right above the main motor. the plywood base is soaked, though is seems everything else is dry and ok. all fuses check out. I drained the tub for now....need to let things dry out. I'll also cut away the insulating foam to check for the leak - looks like the culprit is a small hose that runs up by the control panel. Not sure what it's for, but it doesn't hit the ozonator. <img src=:" title="Question" /> side note - Icon Fitness / ProForm is shirking any responsibility to cover under warranty, despite a different rep telling me that morning it was covered. <img src=" title="Rolling Eyes" />

Easy solution!! Drained the tub, loading it up and taking it back to Costco for a full refund.

Now...what to buy to replace it? Guess I should start reading up....$4700 to spend (and probably will be on a Costco cash card).
