| Connecting wires to the breakers |
Hello, I just bought a house out of forclosure and it'd been winterized. The hot tub (5 person Wind River) has been disconnected and I'm ready to put it all back and get 'er going again! I don't want to pay an electrician $150 to connect these wires so I'm hoping you all can assist me. I am a responsible home owner and very careful. There are pictures of what I'm looking at below. I assume that the two large black wires go into the larger upper breaker and the bare/green ground connects to the same bare wire within the box. What about the white wire?
Your assistance is greatly appreciated, please be specific so I can follow the instructions carefully.
thank you! Ryan

Re: Connecting wires to the breakers
How about a picture of how those wires are connected to the board in the tub? |

Re: Connecting wires to the breakers
Black wire from tub goes to one screw on breaker, Red wire from tub goes to another screw on breaker. The third screw on the breaker should have a white dot on it. It may be the middle screw but I'm not positive. Anyway the white wire from tub goes to that screw on the breaker NOT the ground/neutral bar. The pigtail from the breaker goes on that bar. The black and red wires don't matter which screw they are on as long as it's one of the two hot legs of the breaker. Ground wire goes to the ground/neutral bar. If you turn the breaker on and touch one contact from a tester to the ground and touch the three screws, ONE AT A TIME, with the other tester contact, you will see which screws are hot and which one is for the white wire. |

Re: Connecting wires to the breakers
Sorry, I just noticed that you have two black wires comming from the tub. One is usually red but it doesn't matter. Make believe one is red. As long as the white goes to the NON HOT SCREW your good. |
