| Contactor question |
I have a 1995 Cal Spas hot tub that a friend gave to me. It has been working fine until last week I lost all power to the tub. Light wouldn't work, pumps wouldn't work, heater. It was like I lost power completely. I started checking things out and found out that when I hold down the two double pole contactors in the control panel, everything works. My question is, are the contactors my problem or is the problem bigger than that? If they are the problem, how do I know which one I need? The tub is supplied with 240V 50A dedicated circuit. Neither contactor has a sticker or anything else to help identify it. Thanks for any help given. |

Re: Contactor question
You need to know what the coil voltage of the contactors is, then check to see if you're getting that amount of power to the coil when everything is supposed to be on. Might just be a bad fuse, so check those. |

Re: Contactor question
Fuses look ok. Is there a way to test them or is it just visual? |

Re: Contactor question
You need to test continuity across them. |

Re: Contactor question
Ok. So I went out Saturday morning to hook by contactor back up to try and determine if I was getting power to coil. When I got it all hooked back up, it was working just fine. So my guess is there was a loose or bad connection going to the contactor. Sorry for the headache, and really I appreciate your help spishex. |
