| Geko SSPA 1 M relay repacement Part Number |
I bought a Dimension One Companion HP tub for $100.00 dollars and proceeded to repair the cracks in the sump area and 3 manifolds, only to find out after connecting the electricity that I had the dreaded 3 dots flashing on the controller. First thing I did was to read the Geko repair PDF file. I checked the pressure switch and found it was OK. Next I checked the water temp with my IR scanner and the temperature was within specs. After having a few beers to think about the situation I checked the voltage output to the heater terminals. My situation was the the American Zettler relay was welded closed. This caused the 3 LED flash on the display due to the heater constantly running and causing an overheat situation (Hi Temp Limit). The heat light was out and I still had 240 volts on the legs to the heater. I removed the board and took the solder wick to remove the offending relay and replaced it with another 30 amp 24vdc Omron unit. Part# G8P-1A4P-DC24, These can be bought at Digi-Key or Mouser for about $2.75 ea.
The easy way for me to replace the relay was to crush the old relay, leaving the 4 soldered pins in the PCB. Next is to pull the 2-24volt pins from the coil. Next is to work the other 2 pins apart. Take the butane or electric iron and remove the pins from the board. You might need a solder sucker, wick, or (caution) blast of air to remove the molten solder. Inspect the caps while you are at it. They are as cheap as the relay price wise. Just watch where the arrow on the cap points when soldering in.
Omron part # G8P-1A4P-dc24 This is a 30 amp 24 volt coil replacement relay for the Zettler AZ2150-1A-24DEF relays on the board.
After the replacement all is good. If you have any question let me know. I can replace or rebuild your board if you are not comfortable doing this.
