| Have Power but the Spa does not work. |
I have an older 1992 Spa. The Controller says SpaWorks Teledyne LAARS on it. We moved it from my mother in laws where it has been sitting forever out of use. She claims it worked last she used it. However she has a small rodent infestation. They got after the foam around the shell and got ahold of the pneumatic hoses that are connected to the top side controller. (all hoses have been replaced now)I can hear the pneumatic switches at the controller when I depress the buttons. I have tested just about every circuit in the controller with a multimeter and we are getting 240v at the pumps and heater. The relay switches in the controller have what is a test/bypass button i'm guessing. If you depress these the pumps come on.Jet pumps as well as the high and low flows. The blower however, I am assuming is on the 120 side If you depress the switch that switch the 50amp service breaker trips. I unplugged the blower from the controller hit the switch and the breaker does not trip and pumps come on. Even though I have identified the blower as a possible issue, the top side cotroller still has no power. The spa will not come on. I need help identifying where to look next. It just seems odd that everything that needs 240v in the controller is getting it but anything that need 120 is not... Any help would be appreciated. I realize this thing is way old but if it's just a small part, I'd hate to spend a lot of money on a new spa pack... at least not yet. |

Re: Have Power but the Spa does not work.
OK so I found the issue. Back in the day, They made something called an Interlock. Sure I saw this cable Dangling when the spa movers came to my mother in laws house. I even asked them what it was because I was curious as to why it would just be dangling ther underneath the tub. They didn't know either. This device operates with magnetics that open and close circuits. I.E. Spa shell door closed, Circuit closed (control pack has POWER)... Spa door open, circuit open (control pack has NO POWER)... Manufacturers did this to keep people from getting under the unit and messing with the controls while being wet. Smart people. Anyway... I hope anyone having the same issue can find this resolution. |

Re: Have Power but the Spa does not work.
I have a sensation san marcos which we moved from one spot in the yard to another using the same wiring hookup. Now the spa has 220 and the lights work, the radio works, the controls light up, but when I hit the jets botton I only get a click sound and the jets will not come on. I don't have a reset botton like you had. any ideas? |
