| Hot Spring 1994 Jetsetter |
We were just given a 1994 Jetsetter spa. We just put it on our deck and filled it with water. It was running two days prior. All seems fine with it, except that after about 3 minutes, the unit becomes unresponsive. The indicator light turns from solid red to blinking red. Also one of the reset buttons in the cabinet pops out. If I remove power, I can reset the button and the unit will work again. The only thing that concerns me is that the previous owner drained it while the power was plugged in. They did have the temperature setting in the off position. Any help in what may be the problem would be appreciated.

Re: Hot Spring 1994 Jetsetter
Hello. If the button you are resetting is the little red one closest to you on the side of the control box, that is the heater high limit. It sounds like the circulation pump is bad or has a condition known as airlock. When filling the spa you should put the hose in the filter compartment to help prime the circulation pump. If they drained the spa without unplugging the circ. pump it could be damaged, it runs 24-7 even with the heat turned down. Try this: remove the filters, unscrew the standpipes and find the shallowest hole. This filter is dedicated to the circ. pump. Put your hose in that hole and put a rag around it so you are forcing water into the hole. This will purge any airlock in the pump. While the water is flowing reset the power to the spa (unplug and plug back in). The pump pushes the water out of a waffle cover on the wall of the spa. Put your hand over this cover to feel for water flow. It won't be like jet pressure but you should feel flow. If you can't get flow from there you will need a new circulation pump. You can be pretty sure the heater is OK because the high limit trips. You have a great brand of spa, very reliable and energy efficient.

Sorry, I forgot the simple thing to try first - Pull the filters and reset the power, then feel for the flow.
