| Hot Springs Prodigy spa wiring....HEEELLLLP! |
Hi all,
I just purchased a new Hot Springs "prodigy" spa, and the instructions in regards to how to wire the thing are totally greek to me. I certainly don't want to THINK I know what I'm doing and wind up ruining something. Here's what I have, I have the cable comming from the breaker panel in the garage to the new sub-panel that is three wires and a bare copper wire (red, white, black, and bare). Ok now the outgoing cable from the sub-panel to the tub is 4 wires (red, white, black, and green)....the instructions keep mentioning a blue wire, which I'm assuming is the same as the black?....would someone mind "connecting the dots" here and helping me out?...sorry if I'm being a bit "out there" on this, but I need it explained to me as if I were a two year old.... " title="Confused" />
Thanks so much! |

Re: Hot Springs Prodigy spa wiring....HEEELLLLP!
If it all sounds greek then I would honestly advise you to get an electrician.
The subpanel needs to have 30 amp and 20 amp breakers in it. You need to reconfigure jumpers if the tub has not been converted to 220 volts already, and you need to have two #10 wires, two #12 wires, and a ground wire. The diagram to follow is located on the inside of the IQ 2020 panel. Follow the diagrams for a Model H converted tub. |

Re: Hot Springs Prodigy spa wiring....HEEELLLLP!
So are you saying that I'm going to have to pull a new cable from the garage breaker panel??....I'd have to mortgage my house again to do that....lol |

Re: Hot Springs Prodigy spa wiring....HEEELLLLP!
Wiring from your house panel to the spa subpanel sounds right. Dan's refering to the wiring from the subpanel to the spa. Look at the backside of the cover on the IQbox in the equipment compartment. It's right there. How is it that your dealer is not holding your hand on this? |

Re: Hot Springs Prodigy spa wiring....HEEELLLLP!
Not sure hottub_pool boy....They said they didn't do the the electrical part of it, just the installation of the tub itself....
I was able to figur out how to wire it all up, and now it looks as though the heater part of it may have a tiny issue, just isn't heating very fast at all, only warmed up by a few degrees in the last 4 hours....or is that the norm?
Thanks all |

Re: Hot Springs Prodigy spa wiring....HEEELLLLP!
iF WIRED 220V, IT SHOULD HEAT AT 7-10 DEGREES PER HOUR. HAVE YOUR DEALER VERIFY THE JUMPER CONFIGURATION OVER THE PHONE OR HOME VISIT. |
