Hi all, I am new to this forum, but I have read alot of postings to try and find the cure to my problem. I hope some of the guys on here can help me as I am not sure what the next step should be. Here is a rundown of the problem I have with my 2002 Hot Spring Prodigy Spa. - In December 2007, the IQ2020 control box fried. Meaning, the relay noard went and melted a good part of the whole boad, it was toast, so I have installed a new one in Jan 2008. It is wired with 230V. - When I installed the new control box, the spa would light up, but then everything would shut off, the red light on the control panel would net even blink. - So I started unpluging some of the sensors to see if the Spa would light up again. Turns out the sensor that goes into the heater, which is not the screw types(High limit) but the one integrated into the heater element was the culprit. When I unpluged it from the board, everything started working fine. This sensor seems like a safety temp sensor for the heater element, but once unpluged, no problems with the Spa. - The Spa worked fine for about 1.5months after that with this sensor unpluged, but then the high limit switch started to trip. I would reset the spa and it would last about 24 hrs and then it would trip again. - I then tried to run the spa without the filters, which I was sure where clean, and the spa was still doing the same thing. - About a month ago, I emptied the spa, cleaned all the plubming and took apart the silentflo pump to make sure there is no foreign mater in it. The flo pump was clean, but It seems like some guys on the forums seem to replace those to solve this type of problem. ????
This is where I am at, before buying a new pump, I would like the opinion of some of you guys. Do these silentflo pump need replacing due to wear when the thing looks ok? I dont know. Could it be related to the problem I had this winter? Any help would be greatly appriciated.
