Need Hot Springs heater help

Hopefully there are some Hot Springs experts out there. I have a 97 "Highlife" with the "no fault" heater. This spa was given to me by a friend and basically some chipmunks have chewed both thermistor wires in half as well as two blue wires coming from the control panel. Since I dont have a wiring diagram I assumed the two blue wires were for a door interlock circuit so I tied them together. Then I tied the thermistors back into the panel. When I adjust the thermostat I can hear it close but I get no output voltage to the heater. I have checked both thermistors and they read around 1150 ohms if memory serves as well as the heater itself seems to ohm out o.k. I even swapped my thermistor connections just in case they are different still nothing. I dont see a flow switch anywhere even though the owners manual calls for one in there heater troubleshooting section. It seems to be getting flow so is this a control board issue or is this HVAC technician just way out of his league and has totally missed the obvious. <img src=" title="Sad" />

What is the serial number of this tub?. Hot Spring did not make a Highlife in 1997. Are you sure it's not a '96?

The No-fault heater is a retro-fit heater if it is a 1996. The blue wires probably went to the old flow switch, and they do need to be tied together to complete the circuit back into the control box. The flow switch is not used on the no-fault because it has a thermal cut-off button instead. Make sure that the thermal cutoff (red button on top of the heater) is not tripped.

What does the heater read when you check the ohms across the black and white wires?

Did you wire the tub with a 30amp and 20 amp breaker? If you just used a 50amp it will not work.

Hi Dan thanks for the reply. The serial is K161217. I did wire it using the correct 30/20 power connction. The heater ohms out @ 9.5 ohms but as I was saying earlier Im just not getting any power to the heater. One other thing comes to mind though, on initial power up I did have an issue with proper neutral placement on the gfci's and the reset did trip on the heater. I corrected the gfci neutral and reset the heater. Pumps and lights work just no heater. The staus LED is constant on as well, no flashing.

Yep, that's a '96. Do you get 220V coming into the tub?

You may have a problem with the heater relay itself.

Yep Ive got 246 volts coming in on both the 20 and the 30 amp circuit. Its been a while since I had the control box open is there a separate heater relay/ contactor or is it integrated on the main board?

Hey Dan thanks for all your help I found that my my jumper plug for the old flow switch had giggled loose. Everything seems to work ok now. Guess the real test will be if it will maintain setpoint. Thanks again and let me know if you need any HVAC support. <img src=" title="Very Happy" />
