| Pinnacle PE-20 pack - contactor humming? |
I have a Pinnacle PE-20 pack under my old spa. It's about 9 years old. I recently replaced the pressure switch which fixed my high limit pop problem but now have noticed that the first contactor switch inline (there's 2) closes and hums whenever there is power. The second contactor only closes when the pump calls for it. I've never had this hum before and don't know if the first contactor is supposed to close immediately upon receiving power. Everything else is working fine. I've got low and high speed pump, heat etc.. I did have some contactor chattering before I replaced the pressure switch which may have affected it, but I'm not sure. Contactor is a Furnas C series and the Pinnacle pack is 240 V. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

A humming contactor is a sign that the coil is getting weak. It may run for a few days or a few years, no way to know. Replacement is the only sure bet. |

thanks
Many thanks for the response. I guess I swap it out. I queried a website called spapartsnet.com and got the same response. They even followed up with a phone call at 8:00 PM on a Saturday night. I was quite impressed with their service and wanted to pass it on to this forum.
Thanks! |
