| Problems w/ Haughes Brand Hot Tub |
We just bought a used Haughes Brand hot tub (1988 model). It has a brand new spa pack installed and the pump supposedly is fairly new as well. However, we can't hook it up because we learned AFTER we purchased it that our house doesn't have the electrical wiring. Our house has 110 wiring and apparently the hot tub runs off 120.
Does anyone out there know how much it's going to cost to get our hot tub running? The breaker box that we have in our house is completely full and there's no extra room to run the hot tub off of it. So is the only answer to buy another box from which to run the hot tub off of? If so, how much would this cost and could we purchase it from a Home Depot or Lowe's or other hardware store?
Any/all help with this would be greatly appreciated. We'd hate to think we wasted all that money on a hot tub we can't even use. " title="Confused" /> |

For the moment I'll assume that you meant 220, not 120.
You might be able to get an electrician to install two dual 15 amp breakers to take the place of two single ones, which would give you enough space to put in a full sized 50 amp breaker. (Cost at Lowes/HD ~ 35.00)
Lowes sells a 50 amp gfci and box complete for $79 which you can connect the spa with once you've made space for the standard 50 amp breaker (noted above). |
