I was given this tub and initially had to replace the board (6600-033) with a (6600-053), the light, heater and fix a couple leaks...But, finally got it running...with a couple problems...
The timer never did advance; no big deal really as I would cycle the tub on and off via the disconnect. Another problem I encountered was the heater would always stay on, as verified by amp draw, even when the temp gets to 104, 105, 106, etc...the heater would just never shut off.
This worked OK for a while then I had the "burnt wire" syndrome that I see on here in a few topics...So, I'd cut the wire and put a new sta-kon connector on and it ran fine for another couple months...Now the heater relay for the circuit board is burnt/melted.
A few questions..... 1. Do I need to replace the board again? 2. Can I wire the heater directly to the terminal block and just keep shutting it off like before? if so, am I by-passing any protection devices by doing this? 3. Any idea why the heater never shut off in the first place? (I'm pretty sure the thermostat is/was working as I could hear the relay pull in and out when I adjusted the temp controller. 4. What is the extra relay used for on that model circuit board?
I'm available via phone and I can get some pictures if need be.
Thanks, in advance, for ANY help in this matter Barry 302-530-3302 |
