| Wiring for an Ozonator is causing massive grief |
We recently purchased a Keys Backyard Spa with a Balboa VS54358 control pack. We bought a Clarathon UV ozonator and are trying to get it installed. The ozonator has the 4 prong plug set up from top to bottom with black, white, red, and green wires. The ozonator works fine when connected to a test box. However when it is plugged into the spa, the bulb flickers on and then off and will not stay on == even during the filter cycle. What my husband has determined is that the white connection has residual voltage when connected live and therefore is not a neutral connection which we believe is needed. When he jumped the white wire outside of the plug to a neutral connection, the ozonator came on perfectly and stayed on. Any idea?? Hopefully I have explained this well enough to understand. Thanks |

Re: Wiring for an Ozonator is causing massive grief
1) Confirm the voltage requirement for the generator (115v or 230v) 2) Confirm using the schematic for your control pack that the place you are connecting the generator provides the correct voltage 3) Reset the spa at the breaker, then don't touch the controls for 2 minutes. The generator should turn on. Many control packs turn off the generator if you touch the user control. |

Re: Wiring for an Ozonator is causing massive grief
Thank you for your suggestions....voltage is correct and voltage has also been confirmed to the best of our knowledge - that seems to be the root of the problem. can't turn off breaker and back on without touching control panel.........when power comes on directions for spa say to immediately power on unit for pump prime......ozonator has no controls. |
