And everything was going so smoothly.
I decided to replace my working delzone bulb type ozonator with the delzone platinum eclipse cd.The hotsprings brand cost too much, and seems to still have issues. I have a 1990 hotsprings sovereign hooked up to 220 (It's "convertible" had done my research, much of it here, and purchased the eclipse. Any how all went well until the final hookup where I noticed that though I had mini jj plugs, the delzone male had the flat prong in the middle, and the delzone to one side. This is where pacience could have saved me.
Alas it did not. I thought about and then forced it. If it dont fit dont force it, right.
So on the control panel I fried one of the two "coils" (transsistor/transformer/generator/oscilator) in a litttle black plastic box just above where the wires attach to the iq2000 circuit board. I assume to replace this I will have to pull the board and then desolder/resolder a new one.
LOOKING FOR A WORKAROUND. The delzone dealer says just cut the plug off and wire directly if the plug is different. well now there is no juice to the wires at the ozone attach spot due to my shortsightedness.
CAN I JUST WIRE DIRECTLY TO WHERE THE CIRC PUMP ATTACHES?????
I assume from reading the lit that the ozonator is meant to qo 24/7 just like the circ pump, and that the circ pump is also 110. What I dont know is if any kind of voltage drop would funk things up or id the blown up black box converted the amperage/voltage/ac-to-dc or something and that I might risk frying my new ozonator.
Thanks with my new found pacience I am shocking the spa at a higher level and waiting to hear back.

It was filtered out on the Ozone power supply line, but the internal transformer of an ozonator creates a potential problem, very rare, but at times it interferes with proper operation of the control box. That's why it uses a separate power source. Since that source is now toast, go ahead and tie it in to the circ pump line- chances are- you'll be fine.

That's great news. The ozone sales person says that It is not necessary to run the ozonator 24/7, and that logically if I run it say 4,4/7(his rec) I'll get longer life out of the thing. Did the burnt bank turn this thing off and on at intervals? Shall I wire a timer in line, or not sweat it. Swine I feel I should be baking you a piggy pie for all you prompt valuable replies.

Another note there is a "summer switch on the side of the iq 2000 control panel that seems to be related to the thermostat. What does that do? Will it save me energy in the summertime in my mild norcal coastal climate?

THE WORKAROUUND WORKED. It'll be pumping ozone 24/7 until i replace the burnt relay *or not* or i put an inline timer in *or not* (PLEASE ADVISE IF THATS WISE). I'm hoping to get a strong ozone buzz each soak now because of the ppm. EMPTY CAVEAT! The salesperson is on an island on that one. I'd strongly suggest running the 03 24/7.

Summer mode shuts down the circ pump for 8 hours a day, to keep the spa from possibly overheating in the summer. When Summer Mode is on, the circ pump will run for 16 hours a day instead of 24, shutting down for 8 hours approx 2 minutes after you flip the switch.

So I'll run it 24/7 then.
The gfci did trip once unless I just forgot to turn it back on.
Do you feel summer mode has any advantage in a warmish climate. Would it tend to save energy. We typically use the tub in the late evening. By hitting the switch just thereafter and having the circ pump go off overnight would there be some savings, or would it be a net loss since the temp would need to be brought back up?
well maybe the circ pump goes off but not the heater.
Never had overheating issues with this tub.

You're only talking 65 watts for 8 hours a day- I don't think the difference would be perceivable on the elec. bill, maybe 2 or 3 dollars a month. I'd leave summer mode off. The time to use it is if the tub is overheating (due to excess heat generated by the circ pump), in that case, you'd activate it around 10 am, so the circ pump would be off during the hottest portion of the day. It's not meant to be an energy saving feature. Though, in very hot climates, it would be. In cooler climates, it would just have to recapture the heat loss.
