| Surface Problems |
Hi I purchased an artic spa coyote c25 in april 2005 we have had a trouble free time with the tub up till about 3 weeks ago. I decided the tub neaded refilling and cleaning which I do every 2-3 months, whilst in the process of cleaning the footwell I discovered that the surface had bubbled between the fibre glass and the outer shell,as soon as the discovery was made I contacted the retailer who supplied the tub. He subsiquently contacted the company Arctic Spars who have today told the supplier that the surface is only guarenteed for 3 years and we are now out of that guarentee, the poblem is that these blbs are getting bigger and in the long term they will crack leaving the tub unusable,I was told that the tub is guarenteed for 7 years for leakage but surely this will happen when the outer surface evenyually cracks has anyone else had any experiance of this problem if so would you please give me some advise Regards Andy |

Re: Surface Problems
Hi, Andy
I'm glad to hear that your Coyote has been good to you.
Since your Coyote has the same strong self-supporting shell as the Arctic line, it's warranted against water loss due to structural failure for another four years, and I don't think it will leak.
Your dealer will have acrylic repair kits, and will fix the bubbled area for a cost.
My wife and I owned a Beachcomber tub that grew a huge bubble on one seat (also after warranty ended!). Our dealer suggested heating the acrylic with an airgun (a hair dryer isn't hot enough) then pressing it down. That worked for a couple of tiny bubles, but not for our big one. Eventually the bubble cracked, and was painful to sit on. I sanded off the bubbles so there are no sharp edges to bite the bum. The fiberglass shell underneath shouldn't leak. For further assurance, I bought some fiberglass resin and hardener and smoothed it over the place where the bubble was (the resin will not stick to the smooth acrylic, so don't overlap too much.).
That left the seat smooth and we kept our BC for another three years --leak free (well, at least not from that!) until we sold it with our house.
Hope this information is useful to you.
Happy Hot Tubbing Tom |
