replacement redwood for Hot Springs Spa

I have a 1988 Hot Springs Spa Grandee Model G that I have been rebuilding. I am now down to replacing some missing or broken redwood on the skirt. Is it possible to get replacements or should I just make them? Are they glued on? It looks like a staple in the bottom and maybe glue on.

Make them.
Good luck with finding anything that'll match... This is a tough one.

My experiance with HS spas and the skirting is that they are stapled on the bottom and the top, the to being under the lip of the spa, and inaccessable. What I did was pry the bottom edge up, and with a side to side twisting motion, while pulling down, pulled the boards and sometimes staples right out of the top. The replacement boards can simply be driven up into that same grove at the top with a rubber mallet, and left free. Just attaching the bottom edge is sufficient. Keep in mind to help lock the boards together, they should all be tongue and grove.

The exact replacement wood slats can be ordered from your local dealer. Just call them, and let them know which peices you need. They are held in place with silicone and staples

Thank you for the info. The other thing that I forgot to ask was what to use to finish and protect the redwood? I hit it with the pressure washer and it looks great. Do I use thompsons or something like that?

You could order the factory stain from your dealer also. Any oil or waterbased stain will do, I'd use a clear oil-based stain with a slight red-wood tint. The cabinent originally came with a water-based stain, if you're happy with it, I'd continue using the factory stain since it should match. However, if you're getting ready to re-do the whole thing, I'd use a quality oil based stain. Don't use Thompsons <img src=" title="Very Happy" />
