tree frogs in tub

just finishedd cleaning the remains of a tree frog that fell in to my spa (yuck) it went through the pump, and then got clogged in one of the jets, it eventually came out of the jet in peices. <img src=" title="Sad" /> ever time i open the cover of my spa there is a least one frog (alive) on the sides of the shell or an the lip of the spa shell. I am dreading the next time one of these little guys falls in and i have to clean his remains out. any ideas on how to keep them out?

Most likley they are entering at the seam of the cover, where the least amount of material is. If your seam has a flap to help cover this opening, go to your local craft store and get some self ashesive velcro and attach it to the back side of the flap, and on the cover where it overlaps. When you are done with the tub, just put the cover on and velcro the straps in place. If your cover doesn't have these flaps, you can still use the velcro idea. At that craft store get some vinyl scraps or samples and attach the velcro to them and your cover at the place where they are getting in. Then when you are done with the tub, just put these in place and no more frogs

I will say, this is the first time I have ever heard of this problem, and it did have me chuckling at the thought of a tree frog with a martini and a bathing suit and sunglasses bathing in the hot tub!

I get them in mine too. Opened it up last night and had four on the sides up under the cover. I haven't had one drown yet, though. I might try the velcro thing.

I hate to bring back this anchient post but I have a really bad problem with frogs. We just bought this house and the hottub wasnt used in some time so the hottub was more of a pond. I just got it cleaned out and re filled and chlorinated and 1 day later, there is a dead frog bobbing in my fresh clean water. There were 5 more chilling around the rim under the cover.

Should I drain the water because of that 1 frog that was in there for a day? Shock treatment? I just shocked it with a big dose of chlorine and it smells better now. Not so "pond like"

We have a stream right by the house that dries up all the time...... Hottub is the nearest body of water.

absolutely not.

Those poor frogs were accustomed to using the spa - so to speak.

We're talking about one really small green thing that died - big deal. Shock the water a little and trust me you will not get mad cow disease from it.

Hmmm... ever wondered how many fish and frogs have died in the lake you last swam in?

I was thinking that, but a lake is alot more water per dead animal. All this water chemistry and bacteria talk is making me want to never set foot in a public swimming pool <img src=" title="Laughing" />

haha... yeah for sure.

But I'd never be too concerned about a dead frog in a spa that has an adequate level of sanitizer.

That too, is a good bit of water for a dead frog.

Hmmm, a dead squirrel though... I'd probably drain it for sure.

Re: tree frogs in tub

I know this is an old thread, but I just found it. I've had several small green frogs lately sitting on the rim of my tub like they are looking at me asking permision to take a dip.
