| Dimenion One Triad with 3 plumbing leaks Is it worth fixing? |
I have a 1999 Dimension One Triad. I recently noticed the water level dropping about 1 gallon a day. I decided to put the tub on it's side and removed the foam insulation covering a leaky pipe. So far I have discovered 3 leaks. One of the leaks has been identified as comming from a white plastic T shaped pipe which connects to a flexible corrigated clear plastic pipe. Does anyone have a recommended method of repairing this? Should the leaked be sealed with a product? If so what product? Or should the section of the plastic pipe be changed? Being that there are two other leaks which need to be identified, and the tub is almost 10 years old, is it best to just replaced this tub? So far the only parts changed on this tub is the ozonator and the cover. |

Re: Dimenion One Triad with 3 plumbing leaks Is it worth fixing?
Depends on what time/money ratio you want to spend.
Want to spend money - sell it cheap or trade it in for a new spa.
Want to spend time...
First I'd cut out as much foam around the leak as possible to expose plenty of pipe either side. Then get a 40mm or 50mm Tee, pipe and joiners (depending on pipe dia) from a local pool/spa shop and a pot of glue (normally clear, green or blue, dep on pressure - all should be fine for this).
Then chop out the offending section and glue in a new piece.
Fill it back up and see if that fixes it. I wouldnt bother with amalgamiting tape or other band-aids - they will just fail again.
Foam can cause water to track - so it may appear to have a leak in three places, but it could just be the one leak causing it.
Alternatively this should take an hour or two for a service engineer. |
