| Draining? |
This seems like it should be really simple, but I am just not figuring this out. I have a hotspring hottub (model-landmark). I attached a hose to the drain and the water is not flowing through it? Do I need to buy a submersible pump? Am I doing something wrong? Any advice would be appreciated!
thanks! |

Those things usually have an on/off valve on the other side of them inside the control panel. You'll have to look for it, somewhere near the floor, near the hose connector.
Otherwise, you can start bailing or get a pump... " title="Laughing" /> |

The water is flowing through the drain, but when I attach the hose it's not flowing through it. |

well if it flows thru the drain and not thru the hose... i'd suspect your hose is clogged or kinked.
this is a gravity drain too so your hose has to be lower the the spa. |

Syphon
I had this same problem with my CalSpa. I would up setting up a trough to run the water away from the drain valve. I knew that wouldn't work so I started looking at options. Somewhere I stumbled upon the following. Hook up your hose to the drain valve and open the valve. Put the other end of the hose to a water source forcing water back into the hot tub, this will fill the hose and when you remove the water source it will begin draing/syphoning the water out. I also found this drained it faster then letting gravity take it's time |

I used to spend hours messing around getting/keeping a siphon going to drain my tub, then I got smart and got a small sump pump (mine's a Flotec FP0S1250X-08 ) and now it's almost a pleasure to do a water change and cleanup, well, almost... |

personally i don't even mess with the drain fittings. The valve you turn often develops a leak, and of course the work around is to just throw the garden hose in the tub, start filling it like you normally would, until there are no more bubbles comming from the hose. then shut off the water and disconnect the hose from the faucet and let it drain. Just pop the end into the footwell. A couple hours later, drained tub. Grab your handy dandy shop vac and suck out the seat low spots. |
