I am new to hot tubs. Aquired this thru an estate sale of a family friend. Anyway, we had been keeping the water temp to about 94 since we hadn't been using it. Live in Illinois and the weather has been below zero in the past week and then a major snowstorm. I just noticed I hadn't heard the hot tub firing up. So ran down to check circuit breaker and it was tripped. Went outside and the pipes are froze. Haven't burst or cracked yet. Took the pump out and put it into the basement to thaw. It's like a solid block of ice. My question is: HOW SCREWED AM I AND IS THIS FIXABLE? sHOULD i HAVE TAKEN THE PUMP OUT? When I got to the hot tub after resetting the circuit breaker, the hot tub was clicking on and off and no circulation because the pipes are solid ice. HELP!!!!! " title="Crying or Very sad" />

Forgot to add that at least the water inside the hot tub shell has not frozen, yet! Of all the dang luck I have. I am going to cry if I have ruined my hot tub!

go get yourself one of the small heaters you use to warm your feet under your desk at work. Set it for 60 degrees and close the cabinet, it takes a day or so, but will thaw it out.

What are the chances that the pump and heater make it thru? Did I do the right thing by bringing the pump and heater inside the house to thaw? The water in the shell wasn't frozen yet, but it's suppose to get down to -6 below again tonight. I figure it had to be sut down for at least two days. ! more question. YOu have been so nice by answering my message, but this chick doesn't know a whole lot about these things. What is the best degrees to keep your hot tub set at if you are not using it. I just didn't want it eating electricity when it was way to cold out to even use it, but just enough to keep it bacteria free and frozen free. I already screwed that one up. I didn't even think to check it when the weather got so bad and It didn't even dawn on me that I hadn't heard it cycling.
