| Jet Removal |
I have an old Vita spa. It is a Cozee model that I believe to be an 1988. One jet is not flowing. The outer edge is knurled, however I cannot turn it. The spa sat unused on its side for an extended time. Can anyone tell me how to remove it to clean. The smaller ones in the tub have a clip, then they pull out. All I can see on this larger one is a small relief at about 10oclock in the pics |

Re: Jet Removal
I'm not familiar with Vita but from what I can see in the picture it looks like you would unscrew the inner ring and then you might find the tabs on the jet fitting.

Re: Jet Removal
Thanks, if you look, one of the tabs has started to break from trying to unscrew it. Since I am unsure of parts availability, I didnt want to break anything. It is most likely an old Pentair since the others are and it looks like them but bigger. The outer edge makes me believe it turns but I cant get it to move at all. |

Re: Jet Removal
With Watkins spas they have a tool to unscrew those type jets. It is just a piece of PVC with slots cut into it.
Good Luck

Re: Jet Removal
This is a Pentair(American Products) 2 port diverter jet. It has a two prong clip ring inside the opening. Each prong end has an opening that a screw driver can lift out. Once the clip ring is removed the whole jet internal can be lifted out by twisting or prying the face. The jet body has a wall fitting that stays in place. Careful not to break the clip ring or scratch the spa shell lifting. |

Re: Jet Removal
Well you would think it would and the smaller jets in the spa, have an easy to see and remove clip. However, this jet doesn't seem to have it. At least I can't find the ends. All there is, is a small spot @ 10o'clock in the pic, otherwise that ring where the smaller one have a clip, is solid. Now a power issue decided to fry the high speed in my pump so it is drained and I will get in and have another look if it will ever stop raining. |

Re: Jet Removal
In 1994 they changed the clip ring for this jet. Maybe yours was changed out since 1988. Anyway, the new style clip or snap ring just has one clip end. There are parts available. |

Re: Jet Removal
Really? Great but not to sound stupid or non-mechanical but can you explain some more how it comes out? Where I expect to find the clip seems to be solid all the way around. In the pic there is a small indent at 10oclock. That is the only thing that I can see. Thanks for the help |

Re: Jet Removal
Dont know, but the old clip merely catches on the inside rim of the jet body wall fitting which you cant see until you remove the internal. It only takes about 2 mm movement into the opening for the 2 inserts to clear that rim. The scalloped face you see is not the wall fitting. Also note that the 4 tabs in your picture will just rotate the port openings. They dont remove the jet internal. I do have a pic of the clip for the american(pentair) luxury series which they also changed in 1994. It might be the same clip(see attached). You can get the complete jet internal assemply without the jet body for 30-40 dollars, so breaking the clip ring or face probably wouldn't be a big deal if you're replacing it anyway. For confirmation, the 2 port jet body has a large hexagonal nut on the back wall.bx9931f.jpg |

Re: Jet Removal
i think its the cover that u have to turn. if u cant; in my case what i would do is fill up the spa and use jet clean and run your tub untill you able to turn it. |
