| Leak around jet control switch? |
I have a steady leak from the control knob for my jet speed. It's in a tight space, so I'm not sure how to reach it. I also am not sure how it is all hooked up, there appears to be several tubes connected to it. Advice on how to stop the leak? Can I somehow disconnect this knob and work on resealing it? What parts need to be taken off to remove the leaky spot?
Thanks. |

Re: Leak around jet control switch?
It's probably not the knob, but a loose jet fitting that's not allowing the venturi to work properly, thus backing up into the knob (air flow control) |

Re: Leak around jet control switch?
Sorry, say what? So the leak is probably something that's connected to or around the knob? Can you walk me through it a bit more with some visual descriptions instead of names?
Will this be something that requires me to drain the whole tub? Or just a portion of it? Can the assembly be unscrewed somehow so that I can pull it out of the shell?
Thanks again. |

Re: Leak around jet control switch?
The knob is just a valve, to control air flow through the jets. It's commonly referred to as an air flow control valve, or afc. There should be no water in the plumbing of this valve while the jets are running, although once the jets are off, the afc lines will fill with water.
There's a venturi at each jet fitting, creating a vacuum. The water rushing over the venturi creates a vacuum in the air line. These air lines run to the afc valve (your knob), which when open allows air to be sucked in.
When these lines are purged with water, it's not because the afc has failed. It's becasuse the venturi isn't working properly, and instead of a vacuum in the air line, there's water pressure. This normally happens when one of the jet's, or some portion of one or more of the jet's is loose. You don't need to drain the tub to tighten or replace these parts of the jets.
If you can post a pic, maybe someone will be able to point you in the right direction as to what you'd be tightening or replacing.
Hopefully helpful,

Re: Leak around jet control switch?
Hmmm, this sounds like it might be the problem. I've since investigated again and noticed that the area did not leak through the night, nor did it leak when the pump was running. Only after shutting the pump off did it leak. Sounded like bunch of air bubbles moving around and then leaked for a second or two. Maybe it's nothing to be too worried about. I'll search around for a loose jet....thanks and I'll jump back on if I need some more advice. |
