| Loud jet pump, normal? |
Hi, I just got a 1989 Down East spa. Also just got it wired up and working %100. I noticed the jet pump is extremely loud. Though I dont think there is really anything wrong with it. Seems to work fine. Its just a like a loud vacuum, kind of like the ones at car wash's. I know its because of the air it sucks in below, but is there quiter ones out there? I was thinking of adding some insulation to the inside of it. Not sure how much this will help. Its border line obnoxious. I can hear it now and I am in my office and its on the other side of the house. Though I have a small house. Any suggestions? |

Re: Loud jet pump, normal?
It sounds like you are referring to the air blower rather than the jet pump. The jet pumps will push water through the jets, the blower will only move air through 'air jets' or to mix with the water flow. They basically sound like a shop-vac and are very noisy which is why many spa owners don't use the blower but just the jets. If you don't use it, be sure to run it at least on an occasional basis to purge any old water from the blower lines and prevent a sanitation problem. |
