| Morgan Carmel 93 drained to clean now pump goes thermal /blower quit |
Hi all! I have a 93 Morgan Carmel 6 jet spa. I powered down the spa this weekend to drain and clean because of all the oak "flowers" that had fallen in the night before. I completely drained the spa, removed the filter and gave it a good cleaning. Then I filled it back up completely before powering it up. As soon as I powered up alot of the stringly oak garbage surged out of the jets. Now the blower doesn't power on. The heater and pump works but the pumps gets hot and the thermal protection kicks in and it stops. I thought the lines might be blocked but the jets all seem to have normal pressure. I disconnected the unions at the pump and dug an acorn out of the intake. But this didn't change anything. However when I disconnected the unions I got good water flow from both! I feel like I may have some blockage but for the life of me I can't see how. The skimmer is pulling very well. This is the first trouble I have had except for a single jet that has never worked, only "pulled" water in. Ideas? |

does the pump sound as though it is labored? If so, it may have somehting cought and wound around the shaft behind the impeller, dragging it down. Otherwise, I would say that the pump failure and your draining the tub are merely coincidental. |

Well for the life of me I can't see how but it appears the pump is bad as well as the blower!
I have replaced the pump but don't have a clue how to get to the blower. I need to remove the spa pack but it doen't look like an easy task. to make matters worse not I have a leak at the heater union.
It looks like the blower intake is in the bottom of the power pack???
I'm wondering how that can be right as it would seem to be inpossible to get airflow if the cover is on.
I hope I'm not getting over my head here. " title="Shocked" /> |

blowers intake around their housing, not through a separate port. perhaps if you posted a photo of your setup, it would be easier to help you out. |
