I was given a 'basket case' hot tub (make model unkown), and surprisingly everything worked when I got it all back together. Pump is functioning on both High/Low speeds, and the jets air can be turned on and off, but the jets just don't have much strength. " title="Confused" /> There are 4 roto jets and one WaterWay Jumbo whirling jet. The jets turn but not fast enough to work as designed. All the water and air lines look good, no leak, kinks or visible obstructions through the clear tubing. I've also changed the filter and even tried it with no filter, but there is no noticeable difference in the jet strength. I remember reading something about the number of right-angle elbows in the plumbing will cause the pressure to decrease. There are a total of 6 right angle bends in the water loop 1.5" lines, so I'm wondering if that may be causing the problem. Some of these elbows don't look original because there is purple PVC primer smeared everywhere, so I'm wondering if the previous owner may have 'cludged' some of the piping together, adding 90deg elbows in the process. After looking at the length of the flex pipes, I can probably eliminate half of the 90deg elbows, and replace a couple with 45deg. Would all of this be worth the effort, and gain me any jet pressure, or am I splitting hairs here? Thanks to anybody who can offer some insight!

It's unlikely you'd notice any difference. Have you checked the pump's impeller for a partial clog? Are the jets adjustable (typically the face of the jets, or the insides will spin to open and close them)?

Thanks for your reply... I've looked inside the wet end, and can see the impeller, but I didn't spin it to inspect the entire thing. All the jets except one will close, but I don't feel much of a difference in pressure when I start closing off jets.

I guess I should note that it was stored for awhile with the pump and control box/heater, blower and ozone gen all disconnected and filter cartridge removed.

Now for the gross part... When I got it home I found a couple of dead mice down in the bottom of the filter compartment. I sucked them out with a shop vac, and flushed everything out with a bleach solution to kill any bacteria, and rinsed the lines out several times. I also used the shop vac right at the jets themselves.

After reading a couple of other posts on here I'm going to check the pump HP rating when I get home.
I understand that I should have at least 1/4hp per jet. Do you agree with this? What about a GHP rating?

I'm not sure how old the tub is, but I'm guessing it's not too ancient since it has an Ozone Generator.. would that be a good assumption?

Ozone has been available in spas for over 20 years. 1/4 hp per jet is unlikely on a portable spa. It really depends on the GPM rating of the particular pump (which you wont find printed anywhere), the flow rating of the jets, and how it's plumbed.
