Spa Jet Removal

Can anybody tell me how to remove the lower Jet or what type of jets these might be? I bought this spa used and have no idea how old it is or what brand. One of the jets is leaking whater back into the air system and causing a leak. I pulled and the top jets came out, but the bottom ones won't budge. I notice there are no rubber seals on the top jets, it's all plastic...is this normal? Please see attached photos...thanks!!! <img src=" title="Laughing" />

Those look like Waterway jets... which I have in my tub. The "internal" is most likely stuck. If you turn it counter-clockwise, it should break loose, rising out of the body 1/4 to 1/2 inch or so, then just pull it out. Saw a spa tech use a pair of channel locks on a jet once, because it was so bound up in the body. If its been there for a long time, mineral build up can really make them a bear to remove. Some of mine fit loosely enough to simply pull out, others I really have to crank them left, to get them out of the bodies. I guess its possible to break it off in the body, but it would REALLY have to be bound up with gunk for that to happen... in which case, you may want to get it out of there and replace it anyway. Nice tub, btw. <img src=" title="Very Happy" />

Might be water way or American (Pentair). Get me a photo looking a the jet straight on and I can tell. Until you know for sure I would not trying removing them.

bottom one is a waterway poly jet - pry the escutcheon forward to get a good grip on it (comes out 1" and unscrew - threaded in. the top one uses no rubber seal- just the raised rings to seal water from air

I got them out...yup, waterway poly jets! I cleaned them all out and my spa has never worked better! After looking online, I see there are some replacements that look interesting...the pulse ones especially. Anybody have any experience with these or other replacment ideas? I only want to replace the internals so they need to stay waterway jets. Thanks to all for your help, you're the best! <img src=" title="Very Happy" /> <img src=" title="Very Happy" />

Congrats. You may know this already, but if you soak them in white vinegar/water solution, it remove the mineral deposits. 2 cups in 5 gal bucket 3/4 full for a couple hours will do. I just replaced some of the standard directional jets with twin rotos and I can tell you, I much prefer them. Night/day difference. Anything with motion I find much more relaxing and better at loosening those tight muscles <img src=" title="Smile" />. Just ordered "massage" types too. Don't have them yet. However, if they are anythig like the single 5" massage in the foot well, they are going to be terrific. cheers, Chris
