What do the knurled edges on the jet rings do?

Hi all, first post here. I have purchased and setup a used Leisure Bay spa model#4500G1. Everything has been great and I had absolutely no problems with the install but I have a question about the jets.

1. I have multiple jets that appear to be waterway jets with knurled edge rings around them. What do these rings do? I have tried to turn them but they will not turn. A couple of my jets are not running so I thought that this ring might turn them on/off. Do you think this is the case?

I have a Leisure Bay also, but a different model (19300 S-Series). Mine has the same knurled jets and turning them does indeed turn the jets on and off. They seem to turn easier when the tub is drained, so maybe you can break them free the next time you change he water. I'm pretty sure you turn them counter clockwise to open them.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll give it a try.

Jets

Hi Critter,
You do have waterway jet internals. The differ from NC-Spa a bit though. The series you have is the "Power" series. The power pulsators have the two holes, The power roto has the directional nozzle, and the power massage looks like a gatlin gun. All of these internals have a built in design for removal, and installation. The scalloped face pulls away from the shell to make it possible to unscrew the internal. The problem with this series, is that they become "gritted up", and won't open and close. You need to Gently pry the scalloped face away from the shell, and use a towel to grasp the jet internal, and unscrew the jet. Then clean it up, and re-install. Screw in the internal clockwise untill it stops, then back again a half turn. Then clockwise again just a hair (sweet Spot).

Have fun.

Thanks for the helpful advice. I'll be draining and refilling soon, so I'll wait until then to give it a try.
