| Ants coming out of jets |
I had a colony of ants living up inside the tub. They left tel tale signs of chewed up insulation on the ground. Diazinon seemed to have killed them. At least they weren't foraging on the ground for food anymore. Now I have the tub set up and running and low and behold ants are coming our of some of the jets. I don't know how they got into the jet pump circuit. any suggestions on what to do. Some of the jets, especially where they were living do not flow much water. I wonder if they are in there and blocked it up. How could they get in there?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I think it's very unlikely they could've have clogged anything up. If you're getting poor pressure, be sure th diverter valves are positioned appropriately, and the filters are clean.
It's truly a sight to behold when a million ants have taken up residence in the spa. Just keep running it and pointing them towards the filter compartment. The filter will do the rest...then clean it. |

yeah... most likely they crawled in over the top. not from underneath. it's quite common for ants to take up residence underneath the edges of a spa cover. |

Hey gang,
Got a response for a person from Pools Plus. He wrote:
The ants are probably entering through the air system of your spa.
Attached to many of the jet's are check valves that draw in air.. it's
probably drawing in the ants as well.
The ants were entering the hot tub from the bottom corner. I sprayed the opening where they were entering the tub but they arn't stupid, they probably have an emergency escape route. I then put diazanon around the areas they were entering and they were gone for the rest of the summer/fall. Well, now the weather is warming up and low and behold, there're back.
Guess I can keep putting diazanon around the tub and as they go out to forage for food, they will eventually kill off the colony on the return trip.
Any suggestions or past nightmares would be greatly appreciated. Did I hear millions of ants before. AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! " title="Shocked" /> |
