| D1 Circ pump |
Spa = Dimension one Californian, new in 2001
The circ pump was making a lot of noise.. I checked it out and it was not even attached to the shell.. just held by the hoses. If you pressed on the pump with a finger, it was quiet.. I attached it to the shell, but it did not help the noise.. The pump stopped working one day and the panel was flashing the message to reset the electronics and if that did not stop the problem, call for service.. I did this and it did not work.. I did not have time to work on it then, so i turned the temp down far enough for the circ pump not to work anyway.. two weeks later, i set the temp back up and everything worked fine, but still noisy.. two weeks later it stopped working again.. Same drill, turned temp down for a week or so and now circ pump is working again.. The circ pump is only 7 months old, but out of warranty.. I am going to buy a kit and rebuild the pump part of it.. My question is, might the flow sensor be bad also ?? If so, how difficult is that to replace.. |

Replace the circ pump.
You need to do these things like one at a time. You've already got your own good diagnosis - You've done a good job. Do the smart thing first, replace the noisy circ pump and then wait and see.
My guess is that you'll be successful with just the circ pump. |

Thanks, just a matter of words, but I only plan to rebuild the pump.. There is a dealer in town that sells the pump parts only.. The motor works fine and is only 7 months old.. |

Was not successful with circ pump.. still does same thing.. Circ pump will not start.. three flashing lights and message reads "check water level and clear filters" which i have done and they are both fine.. If i turn the temp down enough to turn the circ pump off, things look fine.. the pump even starts and runs for a few minutes every once and a while (??).. Sooner or later it will start working again (at least it has).. any ideas anyone.. |

Hopefully last question.. I replaced circ pump and everything is working.. question is, I can look at the flow switch (housing is clear) and the flexible part is bouncing on the solid contact.. is this normal.. |

Yes, the flow switch consists of two magnets, one on the tip of the metal flapper, and the other is fixed. A little noise of the magnets making contact in the flow is normal. |

The flow of water keeps it rubbing up against the fixed portion of the switch-hence the noise. It's normal " title="Smile" /> |
