New replacement pump doesn't fit

I am refurbishing an older Caldera Spa which had a Brett Aqualine EM-203T Spa Pak in it.

The pump was an Aquaflo FMHP 2 SPEED 1.5HP P/N 021150001010 which had both of the caps located on the sides of the motor.

I ordered a replacement pump and it does not fit.

Apparently the manufacturer Franklin Electric has changed the pump now so that on of the caps is under the larger plastic endcap, which makes the pump too long to fit int the EM-203T assembly.

Has anyone else come across this issue?

I can possibly relocate the second cap back to the outside again if there is no other option.

Modified, pump works, spa up, new question about solar heating

I ended up moving the cap to the outside of the motor, and used on of the cap covers from the old pump to enclose it in. Reinstalled the pump and everything fit. Turned the power on, and nothing but a hum from the pump. Took apart the EM-203T box and ohmed out all the connections and everything was fine, no melted wires or anything telltale. At this point, I went after replacement parts and was very happy to learn that I could buy almost all the necessary components from the former manufacturing group for Caldera based in El Cajon. I ended up buying one new contactor, two relays, two timers, and a heat on lamp, filter, skimmer basket, and a new pressure switch from the Caldera group out in El Cajon. I used the spa tech they recommended and together we got it working yesterday. Today I am extremely happy to say that everything works and the spa is plenty hot. Now I am trying to make a solar water heater to reduce my utilities bill and wondered if anyone here has installed anything similar to this: http://solarheat.50megs.com/ <img src=" title="Smile" />
