| Pump Seal Replacement |
I have a 1993 Cal spa Classic model VIP that I just bought and need some help. One of the 2 pumps needs a new wetend so I have taken the wetend off and I am waiting for the new part but I would like to know if the wetend comes with everything like empeller, pump seal etc.The other pump looks like it might need a new seal just because it looks like it has a little bit water stains by the pump shaft. How do I know what seal kit to get and how hard to replace? It looks like the orginal motor as the other pump has a new Franklin motor but needs new wet end.Sould I fill up and see first or just replace. Thanks for any help!!! " title="Wink" /> |

You'll find out how easy/hard once you get the other wet end. If both wet ends are the same, prior to installing the new wet end, remove the pump seal and bring it to your local, friendly pool/ spa store. They should be able to match it up for you. Good to right down the seal # in the equipment area somewhere for the future.
See if the other one leaks first.
For handling the seal- it's two parts. don't touch the ceramic surface with your hands, or the rubber part that rides against the ceramic. Oil from your hands WILL shorten its lifespan.
Liquid hand soap comes in real handy when installing them, makes it easier to slide onto the impellor and snap/fit into the wet end. Once filled, the water washes the soap away. |

Thanks for the answer! I will write down the info they give me. This site is great as it helped me know how to take apart the wetend off the pump. |
