| Repair or Replace pump? |
I have a cal spas 2002 Alantic model with a dually pump. Woke up to a loud 3 second buzz every 2-5 min and found the Hottub pump was locked up. The control panel shows Saftey/Suction, checked the pump and sure enough see white calcium water leak in the right wet end.
I'm 2 months past my 5 year warrenty and my local dealer (Watsons) wants to repair the pump. I think I will have them come out and remove it, as I can't figure out how to remove the power unit to get to the pump bolts. And the water unions were put on by a gorrilla.
So my question is, guess I'm looking at $110 for them to come out, remove. About $150 to repair it, and another $40 to come out and install it. Or would I be better off to buy a replacement pump and find full directions on how to replace? |

If they fix it, at least they should be there to warranty the repair. If you have problems dealing with equipment like this or would rather not have to turn into your own repairman, most of the time you'll be better off using the services of someone local. |
