| Vita Spa L200 Replacement Pump? |
I have a VITA Spa L200 series with a 3hp 220v 2 spd pump. I looked on its label and it says something about L48X..so I assume this means its a 48 series frame? Bearings are locked up, so I just plan to replace the entire pump and wet end.
It uses the 2" inlet/outlets and is a side discharge that comes out at the top but points to the side. Its like the wet-end has been turned clockwise 90 degrees.
My question is: Can I get a 4 or 4.5hp replacement side discharge and just rotate the wet end 90 degrees to match my pipes?
Thanks |

Yes, you can rotate the wet end, by loosening the 4 through bolts on the motor and then just rotating it. Going 1.5 hp over might be too much for the wiring, so I would stick to the 4.0 if you need to go larger. Lastly, I would like to take a shot at rebuilding your old pump, if you wouldn't mind me having it. I would pay shipping. Email me! |

Charger_1,
You are more than welcome to have the pump and all, and rebuild it. I do have another question. I was at the Tulsa State Fair this weekend and some spa dealers were there and had signs that shown the 56 frame pumps are more efficient than 48 series. Is this true? Can I hook up a 56 frame pump instead?
I've found some replacement pump/wetend combos on Ebay from a company that has a remarkable customer feedback rating that sells Vico and Waterway's. Are these okay to get? 2 year warranty and they run about $179 shipped.
Thanks |

Riker,
If the 56 frame will physically fit in the location, there is nothing wrong with going with that frame size. They are built better. Many 48 frame motors use sleeve rear bearings, and the 56's use replaceable ball bearings. The pump wet ends are a little more difficult to find, but they are out there.
That company you speak of on Ebay I believe I have seen. Double check the auction and see if you are getting a new or remanufactured motor. Personally, as long as the warranty is good, I don't care, but some people prefer brand new motors, and some of the ebay sellers use remanufactured motors on new wet ends. $179 isn't too bad shipped.
Send me a pm with your email address and we'll discuss the old motor.

What is that company you guys are talking about?
I have been looking for a replacement pump too...
What I have now seems be a 56 frame (it says FR 56Y on the sticker - I suppose, that's what it means?), and I do not see many of those being sold on the net... Does it matter if I get a 48 instead? What difference exactly does it make?
Also, another thing on the sticker is "A 8.8/2.6"... I suppose, that is the amerage, right? Now, I have not seen anything on the web lower than 10A... Do you think it would work for me? Is there any way to find out without actually buying the motor and hooking it up?
I'll appreciate your answers... as well as any leads you can give me where to actually go look for a new pump...
Thanks a lit! |
