| Wavemaster 9000 with no response |
I have aquired a 1994 Highlife Spa with the Wavemaster 9000 - the spa has been sitting empty for an unknown amount of time.
After getting the electric hooked up to the spa, I get no response from the Wavemaster 9000. The switches click and the clean light comes on when pushed. There is juice getting to the pump. However there is not even a sound from the pump.
Both reset switches (the red ones on the side of the control box) are loose and unable to be pressed in. I am assuming from other post that this means they are not triped.
Does this sound like a dead pump or is there something else in the control box that I should look at. |

unplug the Wavemaster 900, and check for 240v at the receptacle. If it's getting voltage, could be dead, or just need a capacitor. |

Where would I find the capacitor? And if it is bad where could I get one?
Would it be better to replace the capacitor first or just shell out for the new pump?
Thanks for all the help |

The capacitor is either on top of the motor or inside the end cap of the motor. It's about an inch and half in diameter, three inches long, usually black and two wires attach to two of the four terminal connections.WARNING: capacitors can hold a powerful electrical charge!!! The capacitor needs to be discharged. Proceed with caution!!!!! |

Ok - I ordered another motor and switched it out on the spa. I then refilled the spa. Still there is not response from the pump.
I hit the pump button and I hear a click in the control box, however nothing happens. If I push the clean button the red light comes on and still no response from the pump.
I am stumped. Could it be something in the control box? Circ pump is running strong (brand new), heater is working, and light works fine. Just the main jet pump will not work.
I am at a loss. |

Did you check for voltage?
The heater works off an entirely different breaker, and the circ pump only needs one leg of the other 220v line to function, so the fact that it's heating and the circ pump is working are not signs the pump is getting proper voltage.
Your very first step should be to check for proper voltage at the jet pump receptacle, then we can go from there " title="Smile" /> |

OK I checked for voltage and it did it read zero. I then checked the circ pump and got a reading. So it does not look like that plug is getting any power. |

What's the spa serial number? |

K-341581 1994 Highlife
I pulled the contol box and tested the fuses inside and they seem to be ok. |

1) Check both breakers in the Spa subpanel for 220v. Be sure to meter accross both hot terminals of each breaker to get 220v, not one termial at a time for 110v.
If you get 220v at both he 20 and 30 amp breaker, will move on to the control box, and those T-92 12v DC coil relays. If you don't get 220v at one of the breakers, replace that breaker. |

There is not a subpanel in the spa. I talked to the electrician and he said that it is just hard wired into the control box.
Everywhere that I tested the only voltage that I get is 120v. Or is it getting 120 per line into the pump?
If the pump is only getting 120v, would that cause it to do nothing when turned on? Or would it just try to operate at a lower voltage?
I am not sure if I am testing it correctly. I was placing one end on the hot lead and another on the white wire going into the terminal block. I tested the leads at the relay and got 120. I tested the other leads on the relay and got 0. I then hit the switch for the pump and retested and got 120 on each lead. I then tested the plug receptical (with one tester in the hole and the other on the white wire in the termial block) and I got 120 per hole of the receptical. |

Swine
Here was the problem. The second blue line coming out of the control panel was very light blue (almost white). When they hooked up the spa they mistaked it for a neutral. So I wired it Blue/Blue and Red/Red. And presto it works!!! |

Glad to hear it " title="Smile" />
PS: the subpanel isn't in the spa, it's what the breakers are in " title="Smile" /> |

Did not realize you were talking about the subpanel in the house.
Thank you very much for the help.
