Weird Noise

I had a leak OVER my #1 pump. Up until this time, everything worked fine. Once i spotted the leak, I drained my tub, repaired and refilled. I turned the electric back on and everything started up fine. The low speed of pump #1 was running from the timer, when I tried my NEW air pump buttons the high speed of pump #1 ran just fine. BUT, when I noticed that the thermostat/temperature light was not on, I turned the thermostat up. As soon as the heater or thermostat clicked the #1 pump would make an awful sound and shut down immediately.
I am going to try more testing tonight, after work, to get more info, however I was wondering if anyone has a clue about what else to look for.
OH and I already spent 37.00 on a new thermostat AND I was thinking that it could be the high heat button (which looks broken) but a spa man said that "shouldn't be it". He aslo said that I should not have a problem with the pump since it was dripped on...said that they are made to withstand some wetness.
Thanks for ANY info...

Re: Weird Noise

If the noise is coming from the motor and you just replaced the air switch for it, you might be getting power to high and low speed terminals at the same time.

Re: Weird Noise

I did just replace the air button at the same time AND YES! the noise is a loud groan from the low and high speed motor and then the motor shuts down and of course the heater stops...cause it is connected to this motor. Is there a reason that it would react differently to the new air switch now than it did before? AND is there a way to check that? I did not get a chance to do anymore testing last night and will not until after work tonight. So I will have more inofrmation in the morning.
Thanks for any help

Re: Weird Noise

You'll have to use a meter and test the lines to the pump. The switch may be slightly different than the old one, or may have been wired incorrectly with the timer or some other component. Also be sure the power supply still matches the motor (120 or 240). If your sending too much juice you'd get a similar horrible sound.
