2002 Hot Springs Sovereign repair

These are just a couple of quick pics i took after installing all ten precision jets and one of the two check valves i have replaced. I have also replaced the circulation pump with a new E5 one, and also replaced the filters with the new ceramic type, and i will also be replacing the heating board. I will put some more photos up after everything else is done as i installed a new patio as well just for the tub.

Re: 2002 Hot Springs Sovereign repair

That stupid foam is a nightmare, I cleaned out 3-54 gallon trash bags full of it. The heater hardley ever runs though so i guess its worth it until you have problems.
I'll show ya some pics of the shell with hot steaming water in it, lol. This baby has been up and running with no issues now for almost three weeks.
Yeah i wasnt sure which primer to go with, i figured this stuff would work, just didnt know how well. Am i goign to be redoing this in a year, because of the purple primer?
I will get some more pics up i just havent taken any yet, will do it tonight if i get the chance.

Re: 2002 Hot Springs Sovereign repair

OK so here are a few pictures of the tub while actually working!!
So all in all I dropped around 800 dollars to get this thing back up and running.
Cant wait for the first snow storm!!!!

Re: 2002 Hot Springs Sovereign repair

Yeah I had to re-pipe a whole spa three weeks ago that was filled up with foam like that, I spent 2 days removing it all. Haha, I cant say if you will have to re visit it or not, purple primer tends to make the pipe a little soft and also tends to get soft its self with heat in the pipe over time making the joint leak "hot water being the heat" however I have seen a lot of repairs done with purple prime with no issues. best bet is to use clear cleaner before you glue next time you do a pipe repair and use pool tite for your glue. But wow very nice looking tub. I never would of thought it looked that nice from seeing the photos of the bottom only. But you did a nice job and you have a nice looking tub for $800 bucks! What state do you live in if you dont mind me asking? how much snow do you get? <img src=" title="Smile" /> I am in Maine, Last winter was the worst amounts of snow I had seen in 15 years. Hey make sure before winter comes you stuff some insulation back in the holes you removed the spray foam from. if you have not done so yet <img src=" title="Smile" /> I still cant figure out why business that build spa/hot tubs do not use pressure treated wood for the frame. it is stupid!

Re: 2002 Hot Springs Sovereign repair

Hopefully the glue holds till i get rid of the thing in 5 years or so, if not, I at least know where to look <img src=" title="Smile" /> I live in Lincoln, Nebraska so we dont get near as much snow as you guys, not even close. I just love sitting in a hot tub during a snow or even when its colder out. Our nights here arent getting down to much more then 50 or so, and it just isnt the same. I actually did spray foam back in on the underside so i should be good to go there. Never knew what a hassle these tubs could be to repair and maintain. Not sure if I had it to do over again I would make the same decision. I am pretty sure i would have let my dad keep it.

Re: 2002 Hot Springs Sovereign repair

Ha I still have my same spa from 1994, I have sence then added tons of new jets and air ways. new spa pack and all new pipes, whole new box for the shell tiled with green/bue/gray indian slate & patio pavers around it. A fun digital programed LED light show and stone water fall in the background falling into the tub "sucks water from the tub with a dif pump and motor for the water fall on a new switch". Older spa's still have life in them if the right person has them. I think yours is still in perfect shape! old spas are better! the next step is to install a marine cd/am/fm radio into the spa next to the top side control <img src=" title="Very Happy" /> and a speaker in each corner on the top side.
