| Hot Tub Repair Facility |
I just discovered this fine forum a few days ago and have been reading through many of the posts and checking out all of the cool repair/rehab photos. Lots of very nice projects.
I wanted to share a few photos of the setup that I have for fixing hot tubs. My business bought an automotive two-post lift over the summer and I have been using it for this purpose. It makes things quite a bit easier for access to plumbing and finding leaks in full-foam tubs. Repairs that used to take a week or two can sometimes be done in a few hours with this thing. I have rehabed/repaired about 30 tubs since September with it.
Here are a couple of photos:
I am currently in the planning stages to build a 3 car garage/workshop at my house with a similar setup so I can fix tubs at home. My business delivers on average 5-7 hot tubs each Saturday and there is usually at least 1-2 'junk' tubs that come back for 'disposal' these days. The tub on the lift in the photos was a throw away if you can believe that! Must be nice to be able to throw away a $6500 tub. " title="Shocked" /> |

Great set-up you have there. Do you sell, or just repair? |

Thanks folks, it has really worked out even better than I thought it would, that's why I wanted to post this. The lift has a 12,000 lb. capacity and cost about $2300 with shipping (Pace tools I think). Well worth the investment if you fix a lot of tubs, especially full-foam ones. I can fill them up and run them while digging from underneath.
Swine, I sell Hotspring, Tiger River, and Caldera tubs. I mostly just service these brands but will occasionally cherry-pick other jobs that come along. Haven't looked at the exact numbers lately but we have somewhere around 5000 tubs out there, so that keeps me busy.
How about yourself? I see you answer a lot of HotSpring questions on here. |

Dan, that set up is excellent.
I'm an independant service agent, we repair Hot Springs, T.River, Hot, Spot, a few Caldera's, and a gazillion Leisure Bays. Probably over 20k customers in our service area, work work work!!!
The dealers in this area sub out everything- My company is kind of a little known secret- no matter where you buy, you're stuck with us

Thanks, it took some heavy convincing to the owner but now that he sees the efficiency and practicality he loves it.
That's sounds like a cool arrangement you have there. In my area the dealers do all of their own service. There may be a few guys who do some limited stuff on the side (electricians and whatnot) but certainly no companies that specialize in it. How many service techs do you have? |

Between 2 and 4 full time techs, including myself. (I own the place, but I turn screws just like everyone else). 1-2 part time office girls, and 1-2 part time techs. Currently doing about 100 calls a weel total. It's a great job, for guys who know their stuff. Always looking for quality help, too. |
