| Pump always on |
Please excuse my ignorance, I'm new to hot tubs. I just bought a used tub. When I plug in my spa the motor kicks into low and the jets run. Heat goes on and off correctly. When I press pump 1 the pump 1 light turns on, and the pump goes to high; pressing it again turns the light back off, and switches the pump to low. The pump 2 button turns on the pump 2 light, and I can hear the relay switch, but nothing happens. The blower button switches a relay, but nothing else. Since I have no blower, this makes sence. The bottom light button turns on my only light, and the top light button isn't even connected. There are also 2 hoses comeing from the temp ajustment, but I have no where to connect them. The electrical cable from the controller seems to handle this though as my temp can be set with it. From what I read I should be able to turn the pump off, unless its in a filter cycle, but they always run. Is my unit just too old, and dumb to do this, or is something wrong. Any guess what? The power cable from the pump as a red connector. The control pack has both a white and a red connector that it will fit in. The above discription is what I get with it in the red plug. If I move it to the white plug then the pump 1 button turns on its light but does nothing to the pump. The pump 2 button will turn the motor on low, or turn it off. But then I have no way to get to high. If my controllor just can't do what I want, can anyone tell me how to rewire the relays on the pump switches to do it?
Here's all the info I have to help ID my components. It is an Inland Spa's Island something (I can't read the engraved plate). The control pack is missing part of the cover, but I am fairly sure is is a Spa Bulders LX series, a prelude to the LX-10 perhaps. It's heater is model number C2550-0056 which was used in the Ap-1, LX-15, and 1400 packs, though their pictures don't match what I have. Pictures are below if someone can help identify it. The top side controller is a 5 air button plus heat control with no ID other than inland spas. The motor is a Aqua-Flo Flo-Master XP2 3HP 2 speed 230 volt.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide! |

Your second pump plug sounds like it's doing what it's supposed to do.
Your red plug belongs in the red socket.
If you don't have anything to plug into the other sockets.... then it sounds like you're missing your second pump... and blower.
Either that, or if you have a second pump, that does plug into the socket then your second pump is probably dead.
That controller doesn't have relays for controlling the motors. It only has 2 contactors, the main contactor in the upper left which shuts down the power in the event of overheating, and... the second one in the middle turns the heater on and off.
The air switches on the right side of the box controls the pumps/blower. |
