| basic efficiency question? digital control pack VRS elec/mechanical pack? |
just a simple question, How is the best and most efficient way to run your tub, first is their really and difference in the new digital control packs vrs the old elec/mechanical versions (the relay driven packs) if so how much(monthly cost) basically I am thinking of upgrading my old tub to a new digital pack, is it worth it> since I would be still running basically the same heater and motor?
next, i can set my tub which has a 2 speed pump, to timmer, only allow it to circulate when I tell it to (they suggest 4hs per day) or auto mode, which will kick it on when the temp drops, which may very from never to very often? |

There is virtually no difference in power consumption between digital and electro-mechanical...you will not notice ANY change on your electric bill. Auto mode will activate the low speed pump and the heater whenever the temp drops (this is how most people have there spas set to run. Though it is still a good idea to have the timer set to activate around 2 hours twice a day for prolonged filtration...This is primarily because the call for heat will usually only have it on for abou 10-30 minutes and that is simply not long enough to filter the whole spa. |

thanks, that was my assumption as well, as for the settings, it was set to run for almost 6 hrs continuosly, which i didn't see the need for and I just set it to auto, then timmer for 1 hr in the AM and 2 hrs early evening. |
