with both high/low jets on, whole system shuts down after 30 min

Hi all,
I'm new to Hot tub ownership, my wife and I recently installed a used hot tub, appears to be in good condition. 200v 60 amp. Attached are several pictures to help identify the make/model of this tub... hoping you experts can help me out!

There are two things that have mystified us. First one is when we turn on both sets of jets together, it will shut itself down in about 15 - 30 minutes. At which point nothing turns on. no blower, heater, jets, nothing. No circuit breaker tripped or anything. Strange part is, if you try to turn on the light, it comes on, but VERY dim, acting like a short is happening somewhere. This only happened once (I didnt attempt to run both jets together again!!), I pulled the disconnect on the breaker box and let it sit, hoping something had just overheated and it would come back online. Fortunately, it did. I left it for about an hour, and everything returned to normal, and it hasnt given any trouble since. Because of this, I am very careful to be sure that anytime friends or family use it and I am not in there, to make SURE they do not run both jets at the same time, for fear of further problems, or even hurting someone. What's up with this??

Second, I've noticed that when running the jets, the heater will only come on if the low speed jets are running. If I turn the low speed off, and high speed on, the heater light does not engage.

I should add, we have gone over every connection carefully, and checked the fuses carefully. I should also add that I have never had my GFCI circuit on the main 220v box trip, nor either of the two 60 amp breakers from the main house breaker, which feed the hot tub sub-panel. My electrician ran 4 gauge wire for both phases, and for the return. The panel to hot tub run is about 30 ft.

Hope I have provided enough info, I thank you all in advance!!

It's just a standard conventional air control spa system. No big deal.

You may have a 'system' contactor that is going bad on you - Some controls have them, some don't. Hopefully you do.

If you remove the front panel from that thing and post a photo of the guts it'll help.

Also, a voltmeter would also assist you in troubleshooting - being able to repeat the problem is a very valuable thing because it makes finding the problem much easier.

Thanks for the quick response!! Attached are a couple pictures of inside the top panel. the FIRST thing I noticed when I opened the panel is, the blue wire, which I have drawn a green arrow pointing to it, was either burned or corroded off of it's connection. Do you know what this is? should I just reconnect it and see if it burns out again (with the breaker thrown of course)?

Certainly anything that's corroded, burnt or fried usually is failing, so it definitely will need to be fixed. You should take a close look at every connector that's on that terminal of whatever relay that is to be sure nothing else is burned up.

I can't see a system contactor in there, so - this one could be a pain to find. My $$$ is on your connector - and possibly some others that are losing voltage.

Cool, I'll repair that connection and test, and report back!
