Blower and hartford loop questions

Hi,

I have some questions regarding the blower in a Spa that I am repairing that was left at my son's house. The air blower was not working, and I pulled it out. It had water damage. I noticed that the air line did not have a check valve on it at all. From reading the forum here, I know that is a problem. I also looked at the air line from the blower. There is no hartford loop either. I might be able to put a hartford loop in. I have some questions about building that.

I am also wondering if it would be OK to just cap off the air line and not replace the blower at this time. It does use air injnectors instead of an air channel. I did read some that the water can become stagnant in the piping and could cause some bacteria troubles. What we are hoping to do is to replace the blower at the next tub fill. Would this be OK, or would it cause us some water qualiy issues.

In building a hartford loop, is it OK if the bottom of the loop doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the spa. I think I can get one where the top of the loop will be underneath the top edge of the spa, but I won't be able to go all the way down to the bottom.

Is it better to make a loop with a wide top pipe, or would it be better to make 2 loops.

Would a check valve be able to handle the water blackflow by itself, or does it need a hartford loop also? This tub seems to have the worst situation for backflow, since the air line lays on the bottom of the tub till it connects with the piping that goes to the injectors and the blower is mounted on the bottom of the spa.
