Building a hartford loop

Hi,

I had an earlier post where we were considering not replacing the blower. We have decided to replace the blower and build a hartford loop to replace it.

From reading some other posts, it seems 2 loops work better than one. Is this correct or would that make to must resitance for the blower. Is there a minimum recommended width of the loop (width of top pipe). Is it better to have wider top loops, or does it really matter?

------------------ from my other post -------------------------

In building a hartford loop, is it OK if the bottom of the loop doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the spa. I think I can get one where the top of the loop will be underneath the top edge of the spa, but I won't be able to go all the way down to the bottom.

Is it better to make a loop with a wide top pipe, or would it be better to make 2 loops.

I noticed also this thread: Do All Blower Installs Include A Check Valve? http://www.spaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=1390 Jeff Z and Charger mentioned drilling weep holes in the hartford loop. One mentioned the top of the loop and one at the bottom. Is 1/8" a good size for the weep holes. Should the weep hole in the top of the loop be at the top or bottom of the pipe. For the hole at the bottom of the loop, I am sure it would be at the bottom of the pipe, since it is for a water bleed hole.

It does not need to go to the bottom of the spa. Just above the water level and then back down to the blower. The whole purpose of the loop or check valve is to prevent back flow.

That said, if the blower was mounted above the water level you would need no loop, and no check valve.
