| Jets have stopped working |
We have a very old (18 years) Model 9800 Asteria spa. It has had its share of replacements, including a heater and the filter basket. On several occasions, it has essentially lost its jets. It has a four-cycle pressure switch (off-jets-heat to temp-run continuously). What happens is that the heater runs, and the water circulates, - but the jets don't blow. This has occasionally been accompanied by a triggering of the heater cutoff -- but we've figured out how to reset this, and it seems to be working fine at the moment.
I'm attaching a close-up of the side of the box, with a red circle drawn around one of the 20-amp breakers. In the past, this problem seems to have signaled a failure of this breaker, such that replacing it has restored the jets to functioning. This has always had a sort of air of magic to me, since I never really understood why this should be. And this time the magic has failed -- I've replaced the breaker in question twice, and neither new one caused restoration of the jets function. It's hard to believe that two brand-new such breakers would already have failed, so I have to believe that there's something else problematical this time.
Can you give me any suggestions as to what the next things to check ought to be? It's terrible when the magic fails! BTW, I'm pretty comfortable working with things electrical, and I know all about precautions, etc. So you can be as technical as you like, and I can probably follow your drift. I just need the best advice I can get; I'd really rather not call in someone from outside if I don't have to.
I will be grateful for any suggestions you can make. Thanks!
JD
