2006 Jetsetter Circ pump and jets shut off after 2 minutes

After 15 months of using our jetsetter, for no apparent reason, circ pump having problems now. Went to get in about 1 week ago (it is January here and cold) and found the water was cold and power light was flashing red. Thought it may have tripped a breaker for some reason and checked the box inside. Nothing is tripped. Looked at the GFCI under the house. Nothing tripped there either. Reset the ground and tried to turn on the jets again (heater runs 24 hours per day-no on/off switch that I am aware of). They ran for 2 minutes and shut off. Waited a bit, reset the inside breaker (still nothing has been tripped) tried it again and they run for 2 minutes and shut off. Took filters out; called company I bought it from and was told it was prob calcium buildup and circ pump would prob need replaced. I doubt this because we don't generally get hard water build up. Also, removed the shell/cover over the motor and see that the lines (transparent) are clear and free of debris. I keep the tub clean and clean the filters as per instructions in manual. We don't get in with dirty skin either. Anyhow, after cleaned the filters, left them out and got some "swirl away". Put it in the tub. Reset the house breaker and ran the clean cycle on it to circulate. Repeated this process about 12 times (because it continues to run only 2 minutes at a time). Did stick my arm down in the water to the place where the heat comes out and during the times that it actually ran, felt heat coming out. Then, I drained the tub completely, and repeated the process with the swirl away (to clean calcium out of pump-as saleslady suggested) two more times. Still only runs 2 minutes at a time. Read some previous posts, b/c I am wondering if it is a circuit board problem...really need some help here.
Just now, we took the cover off the control box again to look for any reset buttons, but I guess our model doesn't have any...
Husband says that he can hear the circ pump running still (this time we reset the house breaker and did not try the jets just went out and listened and looked)....(we are calling small sideways pump the circ pump..has water line-large conected to it and a copper wire on top)
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Re: 2006 Jetsetter Circ pump and jets shut off after 2 minutes

When you say 'turns off' do you mean that the power light starts flashing?

Is there enough water in the tub and is the filter compartment 'door' going down when the jets are on.

Re: 2006 Jetsetter Circ pump and jets shut off after 2 minutes

By "turns off" I mean, the jets (or clean cycle, depending on which one I have turned on) and the heat coming from the bottom both stop. Also, at that point, the light (red) starts flashing.
Yes, the door does move down when it does work. (during the 2 minutes or so that the jets and heat works and the red light stays steadily on). We just tried it again to make sure I am telling your correctly....

Re: 2006 Jetsetter Circ pump and jets shut off after 2 minutes

The flashing red power light means that there is a high limit problem. So there are only a few possibilities.

1. The filters could be too dirty.

2. Not enough water

3. circ pump clogged

4. Bad high-limit sensor

It is normally #1-3 98% of the time. The new hotsprings rarely have problems with the hi-limit thermistor, but if you have tried the rest, that would be the next step.

Is this tub hooked up 220volts? Do you have the Tri-X ceramic filters?
Did you try to run the jets without the filters in at all?

Re: 2006 Jetsetter Circ pump and jets shut off after 2 minutes

1. The filters could be too dirty.-Possible, but I have "degreased" them regularly, and I have taken them out completely for several days to rule that problem out.

2. Not enough water-I drained the entire tub this morning and refilled it over the tops of the jets today, and ensured that there was water inside the filter area as well.

3. circ pump clogged-I suspect this one, but I tried running the "swirl away" chemicals through the tub several times to loosen any debris or calcium (we don't have very hard water; it is well water, but we don't have problems in the house with build up)....no one wears jewelry in the tub, but I do have long hair (although I wear a pony tail when I am in the tub)

4. Bad high-limit sensor-my second suspect!...but how do I tell!

It is normally #1-3 98% of the time. The new hotsprings rarely have problems with the hi-limit thermistor, but if you have tried the rest, that would be the next step.

The tub is hooked up to 240 volts (ground breaker under the house and one set of breakers inside the house-we can run our jets and heat at the same time-till now anyway!)
As for the types of filters....I am looking right now on them (came with the hot tub)...Watkins Manufacturing Company is what it says on the filters...Not sure?

Re: 2006 Jetsetter Circ pump and jets shut off after 2 minutes

I would look to the circ pump being clogged or not working at all. Try resetting the breakers and then try carefully keeping your hand on the heater until the red light starts to flash. If it gets extremely hot and starts making popping sounds then the circ pump is not working at all.

The thermistors are both screwed into the heater and have gray wires connecting to the board. You would need to test them with a meter to see what the resistance is.
